As we celebrate our firm’s 20th anniversary in 2022, we celebrate each of our team members. These monthly profiles are a way to learn about each of our financially-savvy forensic sharpshooters outside the office.

Brittany is the second generation in her family to have grown up in Las Vegas where she has been all her life. She and her husband, Jonathan, share their home with their two dogs, three kittens, two rabbits and a parrot.

During high school, Brittany was active in a variety of activities, from swimming, track and hip hop dance teams to violin, yearbook staff and horseback riding club. Before pursuing an accounting career, she worked as an EMT in an ambulance for two years. She put in tough, long hours where she responded to all sorts of accidents and medical issues but realized it was not a long-term career for her. Since accounting runs in her family and her mom was an assistant controller at a casino company, Brittany took on a temporary role there. She discovered she really likes accounting and pursued other opportunities in the field, gaining real-world experience before earning her bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Brittany joined Morones Analytics earlier this year as a forensic staff accountant bringing ten years of experience in accounting and internal auditing, solving the toughest challenges involving systems and large sets of data. She’s passionate about analyzing data and skilled at identifying problems or discrepancies and putting the puzzle together using various tools. Her diverse accounting background includes process improvement and automation, establishment of internal controls and accounting procedures.

She previously worked in gaming and casino accounting for slots and table games, performing internal audits to check whether controls were followed and for abnormal transactions or activity. She also held a general accounting role with a casino and with a slot manufacturer, using her sharp data analytics skills to look for unusual transactions, potential theft or money laundering.

First job in high school: Papa Murphy’s pizza where she made lifelong friends.

Community: She enjoys working with children and serves as a small group leader at church with middle school and high school kids. Brittany is involved with youth camps and more recently started a program for kids in homes with struggling parents.
