Meet Tyson Slesnick, Forensic Data Analyst

Tyson Slesnick was born and raised in Austin, Texas but also has Pacific Northwest roots with family in Bellingham, Washington. Growing up as the oldest of three, some of his fondest memories are of his family road trips and exploring national parks, which is something he still enjoys today.

After getting his bachelor’s in business from Boston University, where he was a top athlete on the swim team, he stayed in Boston and started his career in financial services. Four years later, he came back to Austin to work with investment management firms doing data analytics and designing business intelligence solutions. He met his wife Monika (also an Austin native) and they now have a one-year-old son with grandparents and a big family nearby.

With 12+ years of progressive experience and an advanced skillset, Tyson joined Morones Analytics last year as a forensic data analyst. He supports our senior testifying experts by investigating and distilling large sets of financial data to find key insights and evidence that inform our opinions.

First jobs: A lifeguard at a country club pool as a teenager. During college, he worked as a mover getting everything from wardrobes to refrigerators into university dorms.

Star athlete: Tyson grew up swimming which led him to pursue it in college in the NCAA Division for Rutgers University and Boston University. He went on to receive the Mickey Cochrane Award in 2010 as Boston University’s Male Athlete of the Year.

Special talent: His mom taught him how to play chess. Before you know it, he started participating in chess tournaments and later became a United States Chess Federation Expert. He still likes to play chess online with people from around the world.

Hobbies: A big-time fantasy football enthusiast, he follows the Cowboys and Longhorns and can name every college mascot. He’s even used business intelligence tools and written algorithms to predict the best players. Tyson likes to relax by going out on an evening run or finding a good TV show.

Food fact: He’s an iced coffee addict and enjoys a good pumpkin spice coffee or beer.

Favorite thing about working with the Morones Analytics team: I enjoy the camaraderie our team exhibits when solving complex problems paired with the desire to continuously improve.
