As financial fraud investigators, it still remains difficult for us to fathom nearly $100,000 every year could be stolen at two different cafeterias in the same school system for over five years before any irregularities were identified!
Unfortunately, this sales skimming scheme is not uncommon, and our firm has worked on a fraud case like this here in Oregon.
Fortunately, it is preventable and more easily detectable with segregation of duties and simple internal controls in a cash environment.
